RETA registration, separate from the census

The special scheme for self-employed workers is a Social Security registration. It does not replace the census return at the Tax Agency.

Two different filings

The census tells the tax office that you are starting an activity. RETA tells Social Security that you contribute as an autónomo. Both have to cover the day you work. Completing only one leaves the other undone.

  • Census: Tax Agency, modelo 036 or 037.
  • RETA: Social Security, from the start date.
  • One does not replace the other.

The quota in the app is not the registration

If that automation is on, Factura Fácil can record the monthly quota as an expense on day 1, at 100% for income tax and 0% VAT. The amount is the quota you have saved. That entry does not register you with Social Security and does not pay the contribution.

Common questions

Does census registration include RETA?

No. The census and RETA are filed in different places. You need both for the day you start.

Does the app enrol me if it records the quota?

No. The day-1 expense, at 100% income tax and 0% VAT, only records the quota if that automation is on. RETA registration is done at Social Security.
