An invoice in another currency

The invoice can be in a currency other than the euro. The regulation requires the VAT base in euros and the exchange rate used to be shown. You type the amounts. The app does not download an official rate on its own.

The tax in euros

Royal Decree 1619/2012 allows amounts in any currency, provided the VAT base and the VAT amount appear in euros and the exchange rate applied is stated. The VAT act looks at that base in euros. A total in dollars only, without that breakdown, leaves the invoice incomplete. The rate is the one the case requires, not a figure made up on the day you are paid if the operation accrued earlier.

  • Amounts in another currency are possible.
  • VAT base and VAT in euros, with the exchange rate used.
  • Without that breakdown, the invoice does not comply.

You enter the amounts

In Factura Fácil you type the base in euros and the other amounts you want to show. The app does not look up an official exchange rate on its own, and it does not fill in the day’s quotation. If the rate is not the one the rule requires, the PDF does not correct it.

Common questions

Can I leave the invoice in dollars only?

No, if there is VAT to show. The base and the tax in euros, and the exchange rate, have to appear.

Does the app download the Bank of Spain rate?

No. It does not download an official rate on its own. You enter the amounts.
