An invoice in another language
You can issue the invoice in a language other than Spanish. Royal Decree 1619/2012 allows it. The Tax Agency can require a translation when it needs one. An invoice in English is not forbidden.
Language and translation
The invoice has to be capable of being checked. If the customer or you use another language, the document can be in that language. That does not drop the mandatory mentions: number, dates, parties, description, base, rate, and tax are still required. If the Administration asks for a translation, you have to provide it. You do not need to wait for that request for an invoice in another language to be valid.
- Another language is allowed.
- The mandatory mentions do not disappear.
- The Tax Agency can ask for a translation. English is not banned.
You write the text
Factura Fácil prints the description and the names as you write them. It does not translate the invoice on its own, and it does not block a description in another language. If you are later asked for a translation, the original PDF is still the invoice you issued.
Common questions
Can I invoice in English to a customer in Spain?
Yes. The regulation does not forbid English. If the Tax Agency asks for a translation, you will have to provide it.
Does the translation replace the invoice?
No. The translation clarifies the document. The invoice is still the one you issued, with its number.
